Lee Hyeon-Woo

Abstract
Increase in the population of aged people in developed countries has been accelerating. It is expected that in South Korea, 20.8% of total population will be more than 65 years old in 2026. It means that South Korea will be super-aged society. Most of aged patients take medicines for treating various diseases or alleviating illness. Although aged patients appear to have normal life because of medical advancements, it needs special cautions for them to use drugs. They have quite different responses on drugs from young adults due to their changes in physiological and psychosocial factors. Here, I review general aspects of drug treatment in dental geriatric patients to which dentists should draw attention.
